Starfish

Skeleton

“Before it gets better, it gets worse. And worse and worse.”

Whether it be in life or death, the unpredictable Regent brothers are the talk of the town. On good days, they were charming; on bad days they were erratic… sometimes violent.

Joey Regent, a tarot card reader and serial womanizer, thrived on attention. Thrived on spontaneity. He wanted all eyes on him. Frankie Regent preferred the security of his tiny aquarium, where he had complete control over every little detail and consequence. He was drawn to his brother’s charisma, but simultaneously resented how the boy could glide through life so effortlessly.

Joey is presumed “deceased” when they find his severed foot snagged on a fishing line. But Frankie isn’t ready to accept his larger-than-life brother’s death. Not until he finds the rest of the body.

As he’s forced into trauma counselling, Frankie finds himself more desperate to reconnect with the dead, and intent on avoiding the living.

STARFISH is a story about isolation, mortality, and navigating relationships through grief.
